What I can help with
Counselling isn't just for crisis moments. Many people come to therapy because something feels off, or because they want to understand themselves better. Whatever brings you here, you're welcome.
Anxiety & Stress
Anxiety can show up in many ways — a constant low hum of worry, physical tension, difficulty sleeping, or a sense that you're always waiting for something to go wrong.
In our sessions, we'll explore what's driving your anxiety, where it comes from, and what it might be trying to tell you. Over time, many people find they can relate to their anxiety differently — with more understanding and less fear.
- Generalised anxiety and worry
- Work-related stress and burnout
- Social anxiety
- Panic attacks
Relationships & Communication
Difficulties with partners, family members, friends, or colleagues can leave you feeling stuck, misunderstood, or alone — even when you're surrounded by people.
Counselling can help you understand your own patterns in relationships, explore what you need from others, and find new ways of communicating. You don't need to be in a relationship crisis to benefit — sometimes it's about understanding yourself better.
- Relationship difficulties and conflict
- Family estrangement or tension
- Loneliness and isolation
- Boundaries and self-worth
Life Transitions
Change — even positive change — can unsettle us. Bereavement, redundancy, separation, retirement, becoming a parent, or simply reaching a point where life no longer feels like it fits.
Counselling offers a space to process what's happened, grieve what's been lost, and begin to find your footing in a new chapter. You don't have to figure it all out alone.
- Bereavement and loss
- Separation and divorce
- Redundancy and career change
- Retirement and identity shifts
Low Mood & Depression
Depression can make everything feel heavy and distant — like you're watching your own life through glass. It can be hard to explain to others, and even harder to ask for help.
Talking to someone who truly listens, without trying to fix or minimise what you're feeling, can make a real difference. We'll work at your pace, with no pressure to feel better before you're ready.
- Persistent low mood
- Loss of motivation or pleasure
- Feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness
- Difficulty with daily life
How sessions work
50 minutes
Each session is 50 minutes long, giving us enough time to go deep without feeling rushed.
Weekly or fortnightly
Most clients come weekly, especially at the start. We can adjust the frequency as we go.
In person or online
Sessions are available in Prudhoe, Hexham, and Ryton — or online via a secure video call.
Open-ended
There's no fixed number of sessions. Some people come for a few months, others for longer. It's entirely up to you.
Not sure if counselling is right for you?
That's completely normal. I offer a free 20-minute introductory call — no commitment, just a chance to talk and see how it feels.
